2-Bromo-1, 5-di-t-butyl-3-isopropylbenzene was prepared and converted to the 2, 4-di-t-butyl-6-isopropylphenyl-substituted phosphonous dichloride, primary phosphine, diphosphenes, and dithioxophosphorane. The P-31 NMR chemical shifts of these compounds are close to those of 2, 4-di-t-butyl-6-methylphenyl substituted congeners. (C) 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
