Reaction rates for the Kumada reaction (of Grignard reagents with aryl halides) catalysed by an immobilised nickel(II) catalyst have been shown to be enhanced when the reaction is carried out in a pressure driven microreactor (internal diameter 100-200 mum) rather than with conventional batch reaction techniques.
