The polymer [Ni-2(C4N2H3S)(4)](n) with excellent electrical conductivity and ferromagnetic interaction between the nickel(ii) centers has been prepared by the hydrothermal reaction of Ni(O2CMe)(2) with pyrimidine-2-thiol in DMF-H2O; X-ray diffraction shows that the polymer possesses a lamellar structure formed from the conjunction system of pyrimidine rings and Ni(ii) centers.
