Temperature programmed thermal desorption spectrometry (TPD) is used to study kinetics of molecular hydrogen release after sorption of hydrogen atoms. A sharp decrease of hydrogen release rate is observed if linear heating of the sample is interrupted at any intermediate temperature. A similar behaviour of release curves is observed after irradiation of the samples with hydrogen ions. A full set of tests supported with computer simulation indicates that atomic hydrogen is sorbed under the surface.
