Three-dimensionally ordered macroporous active carbon has been fabricated by carbonizing an aqueous solution of sucrose in the presence of sulfuric acid; nitrogen adsorption measurements show the presence of a microporous wall structure framework leading to a high BET surface area of 408 m(2) g(-1).
