We report the discovery of a van der Waals type layered carbosulfide superconductor, (NbSC)-S-2-C-2, with a transition temperature T-c = 7.6 K. Magnetic measurement indicates that Nb2S2C is a bulk type-II superconductor. As demonstrated in Cu2/3Nb2S2C, electron doping into Nb2S2C results in a lowering of T-c. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd.
