For the study of the quasi-two-dimensional Mott transition system Ca2-xSrxRuO4, we have succeeded in synthesizing polycrystalline samples and also growing single crystals by a floating-zone method, Details of the preparations for the entire solution range are described. The structural, transport, and magnetic properties of both polycrystalline and single-crystal samples are fully in agreement, (C) 2001 Academic Press.
