Electronic specific heat of (La,Nd)(2-x)SrxCu1-yZnyO4 up to about 300 K

Electronic specific heat coefficients gamma of La1.6-xNd0.4SrxCuO4 (0.0 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 0.25) and La1.9Sr0.1Cu1-yZnyO4 have been extracted over the wide temperature range between 2 and 300 K. by carefully subtracting the phonon specific heat Cph from the total specific heat C. For the former system, the x- and temperature(T)-dependence of gamma { drop (C - C-ph)/T} show clear evidence for the existence of the stripe order around x - 1/8. Cu-site substitution effects on the behavior of gamma of La1.9Sr0.1Cu1-yZnyO4 and La1.48Nd0.4Sr0.12Cu1-yZnyO4 indicate that the fluctuating stripe suppresses the pseudo gap formation in these systems, (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd.
