The antimicrobial properties of methanol extracts of Alchornea cordifolia leaves, stem and root barks were investigated. The most active leaf extract was separated by PTLC into 32 fractions which were submitted to further phytochemical and antimicrobial screening. Some fractions, notably those containing phenolics and terpenoids, exhibited significant activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli.
