Reactions of cyanothioformamides (I) with o-phenylenediamines, o-aminophenol, and anthranilic acids furnished benzimidazole benzoxazole (VII), and quinazoline (IX) derivatives, respectively. Oxazolidine (thiones or iminothiones) (IV) were reacted with the same binucleophiles to produce quinoxaline (V), benzimidazole (VI), and quinazoline (XI) derivatives.
