Greening the supply chain: a new initiative in South East Asia

As has been widely observed nowadays, a major Part of the worlds manufacturing will be taking place in South East Asia in the coming decade. This would create many opportunities in this part of the world, but would also bring about substantial environmental burden. To address this problem, many large corporations have started encouraging, guiding and even funding their suppliers to be green. To determine to what extent this greening Of the Supply chain is taking place in South Fast Asia research has been undertaken encompassing The Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore with a survey questionnaire as the research instrument. The objective of this paper is to present the findings of this survey research, expecting to bring out insights in this greening process and inspire business, government and communities in this region to create an atmosphere conducive to the process.
