Metalejeunea winkleri R.L. Zhu & Grolle is described and illustrated as a species new to science from Borneo. The new species is immediately separated from the pantropical Metalejeunea cucullata (Reinw. et al.) Grolle by the obcordate and strongly dorsiventrally compressed perianth with only three keels.
