Synthesis, structure and magnetism of a new manganese carboxylate cluster: [Mn16O16(OMe)(6)(OAc)(16)(MeOH)(3)(H2O)(3)]center dot 6H(2)O

A new manganese( III/IV) carboxylate cluster [Mn16O16(OMe) (6)(OAc)(16)(MeOH)(3)(H2O)(3)].6H(2)O has been structurally characterised and shown to display net antiferromagnetic coupling with preliminary evidence for single-molecule magnetic behaviour.
