Gold clusters functionalized with interchain carboxylic anhydride over their entire surface have been successfully immobilized on amine-functionalized silica supports through amide-forming coupling, providing ordered two-dimensional arrangements of cluster monolayers, which might find utility in the development of artificial nanostructures for nanoelectronic device applications.
