Low-magnetic field (B < 5 kG) magnetoresistance oscillations (periodic in 1/B) have been observed in a high-mobility two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG). Such novel oscillations appear only in a limited temperature range (approximately, 2 K < T < 10 K). The effect is attributed to magnetophonon resonance of 2DEG with thermally excited leaky interface-acoustic phonons. Results from Fourier analysis of the temperature dependence data are consistent with a model in which two branches of phonon modes contribute to the resonance. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V.
