An analysis has been developed in order to study the flow and heat transfer on a stretching surface in a rotating fluid, in the presence of a magnetic field. The partial differential equations governing the non-similar flow have been solved numerically by using the implicit finite difference and the difference-differential methods. The magnetic field increases the skin friction coefficient in the x-direction, but reduces the skin friction coefficient in the y-direction and the Nusselt number also decreases. On the other hand, the skin friction coefficients in x and y directions increase, in general, with the rotation parameter, but the Nusselt number decreases. The. Nusselt number also increases with the Prandtl number. (C) 2002 tditions scientifiques et medicales Elsevier SAS. All rights reserved.
