An analytic technique, namely the homotopy analysis method, is applied to solve the combined heat and mass transfer by natural convection adjacent to a vertical wall in a non-Darcy porous medium governed by a set of three fully coupled, highly nonlinear similarity equations. An explicit, totally analytic and uniformly valid solution is derived, which agrees well with numerical results. (C) 2003 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
