Aliphatic hyperbranched polyester (PI) synthesized from 2,2-bis(methylol)propionic acid and tris(methylol)propane was reacted with phthalic anhydride and trimellitic anhydride to form modified polymers P2 and P3, respectively. The reaction kinetics and the effect of different end-groups on the polymer properties were studied. Contrast to P1, both P2 and P3 could form global aggregates in dimethylformamide/water mixture due to their amphiphilic structures. Copyright (C) 2004 John Wiley Sons, Ltd.
