CeO2 promoted mesoporous Ni/gamma-Al2O3 catalyst was prepared by ultrasonic incipient impregnation for CO2 methanation. The CeO2 promoted catalyst has better resistance to carbon deposition, stronger thermostability and lower reduction temperature than Ni/gamma-Al2O3. The catalytic system was guided by theoretical analysis of reaction conditions for non-catalytic system with FACTSAGE 6.1.
