Amphiphilic lkylamino cyclodextrins (CDs-NH) in. the Laugmuir-films had strong intermolecular interaction, with sodium, salt of p-methyl red (p-AIR) in the subphase. Molecules of p-AIR were incorporated ill CDs-NH LB films fabricated from, subphases containing p-MR. Deconvolation of (lie polarized UV/vis absorption. spectra of alpha-CD-NH/p-MR films revealed the existence of both monomeric and H-aggregated I)p-MR. The AFM image of a single-layer alpha-CD-NH/p-MR Lb, film showed three-dimensional dendrites probably due to H-aggregated p-MR. We concluded that alpha-CD-NH/p-MR LB films consisted, of three components: (1) alpha-CD-NH without p-MR, (2) alpha-CD-NH with monomeric p-AIR in the CD cavity, and (3) H-aggregated p-AIR outside ilia CD cavity.
