Bis[iminoalkoxy] complexes of titanium were obtained by reaction of stoichiometric amounts the corresponding Schiff Bases and titanium tetraisopropoxide in n-hexane. Using an equimolar ratio of the starting materials only the formation of the bis-chelated compounds are observed. The bis-ligand complexes were characterized by their nmr spectra and in case of 4 by X-ray structure analysis. The latter forms six coordinate Ti atoms as a result of Ti-N and Ti-O interactions of the corresponding atoms of the iminoalkoxy ligands. The Ti atoms are surrounded by the ligand atoms in a slightly distorted octahedral fashion which may be considered as the general structural feature of compound 4: Space group C2/c, Z = 8, lattice dimensions at 20degreesC: a 18.690(4), b = 16.281(3), c = 15.086(3) Angstrom, b = 109.040(4)degrees, R-1 0.0553, wR(2) = 0.1598, GooF = 1.040.
