The O-polysaccharide isolated by mild acid hydrolysis of the lipopolysaccharide of Pseudomonas mandelii CYar1 was studied by sugar analysis and 1D and 2D H-1 and C-13 NMR spectroscopies. The following structure of the O-polysaccharide was established: alpha-Yerp 1 down arrow (R) 3)-alpha-L-rhap-(1 -> 3)-beta-L-Rhap-(1 -> 3)-beta-D-GlepNAc-(1 -> where Yer indicates 3,6-dideoxy-4-C-[(S)-1-hydroxyethyl]-D-xylo-hexose (yersiniose A).
