Nanographene, defined as a nano-sized two-dimensional hexagonal network of pi-electron systems, has an edge-inherited non-bonding pi-state, which results in unconventional nanomagnetic properties, such as spin glass states, magnetic switching, and edge-state spin gas probing. Nanographene is expected to provide important 'ingredients' for molecular spintronics, as a large variety of magnetic functions can be produced by chemically modifying its edges.
