This review on carbon nanotubes (CNT) in analytical sciences covers the full calendar from their discovery in 1991 till the present (June 2005, when the last draft of this review was prepared). This review is focused only in the application of CNT in analytical sciences. It is concerned at the beginning on general description of CNTs with emphasis on special properties of interest for analytical applications. The sections will treat analytical aspects of interest in the coupling of CNTs to enzymes, DNA, proteins and, finally, the use of CNTs for nanoprobes.
