In this paper, results on laser and plasma powder surfacing technology of marine engine valve heads faying face made of X40CrSiMo10-2 alloy steel are presented. It was shown that the cobalt-based powders provide high quality deposits, but the process of HPD laser surfacing ensures higher precision of control the quality and shape of the deposits and also the heat input of surfacing process (dilution of the deposits), compared with PTA surfacing process.
