A biotinylated 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) derivative has been synthesised. Copolymerisation of this, with EDOT itself on a Pt disk microelectrode, gave a redox-active poly-3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (PEDOT) material, the electrochemistry of which responded selectively to exposure to avidin.
