The oxidation of styrene with molecular oxygen at 25 degrees C under normal atmospheric pressure of 0, occurs efficiently in the presence of Schiff base Mn(III) complexes bearing aza crown ether pendant. Crown ether effect on the catalytic oxidation of styrene is discussed, and the alkali metal ions and alkali earth metal ions added into the oxidation system can accelerate the conversion of styrene into benzaldehyde.
