An analysis for designing capillary Z-pinch plasma as an alternative active medium of soft X-ray laser is presented. The validity of calculation results are verified by experiment. Namely, the specification of driving current as well as the predicted pinch time is in good agreement with the experimental results. This study also reveals the possibility of reducing the main charging voltage without degrading the performance of the X-ray laser.
