This field study examines the relationships among religiosity, emotional intelligence, depressed mood, and work-related outcomes. Data were collected from 209 employees and managers from 29 stores of a retail chain. We found that religiosity was positively related to emotional intelligence, and emotional intelligence was negatively related to individuals' experiences of depressed moods. A mediating role of emotional intelligence was found in the religiosity - depressed mood relationship. We also found that depressed mood was positively associated with job tension and negatively associated with job satisfaction and job performance. Implications of the fmdings for practice and future research are discussed.
