The coal mine Debiensko, closed in 2000, deposited over 37 million tons of waste rock and tailings on the 140 hectares heap. The heap comprises of 2 conical heaps, a huge flat heap and 4 ponds. For this land the rehabilitations projects planned the green as well as sport and recreation area. At the same time on part of the heap 2 waste recovery facilities are operating. In the mining area of the closed Debiensko mine, a new undertaking is planned the coal mine Deblensko I. The new investment will generate waste. The most convenient place for deposit and treatment waste would be the area of the existing heap. Utilization of this post-industrial area is the most appropriate solution in relation to the closeness principle; moreover it does not require a new place, which could be degraded by waste disposal. However the renewed utilization of the land under the rehabilitation causes formal and legal problems.
