Distributed Generators (DG) provide the lowest cost solution to handle low voltage or overload problems. In conjunction with such problems, a technique of energy saving is introduced by placement of distributed generation (DG) in distribution systems. A GA based optimal sizing and placement of DG keeping in view of system energy loss minimization in different loading conditions with time varying loads is explained. Minimal annual system energy loss is calculated under voltage and line loading constraints. Proposed strategy is applied to power distribution systems and its effectiveness is verified through simulation results on 16-bus, 37-bus and 75-bus systems with time varying load.
