We used the Calphad technique to represent the thermodynamic properties and phase equilibria in the system Fe-Al. Relative to the description accepted in the COST507 project, we improved the representation of the bcc_A2, bcc_132 and fcc-Al phases. We conclude that new heat capacity measurements are required for the intermetallic phases FeAl2, Fe2Al5 and FeAl3 to improve a thermodynamic description of this system. New activity measurements for iron are required to improve a thermodynamic description for the bcc_A2 and bcc-B2 phase. (C) 2008 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
