This paper presents the influence of fi bre reinforced polymer (FRP) on concrete columns' carrying capacity of concentric and eccentric loads. Twelve high-strength reinforced concrete (RC) columns were cast and tested. The specimens were in three groups: RC; RC wrapped with three layers of horizontal carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP); and RC wrapped with three layers of horizontal and three layers of vertical CFRP. From each group, three specimens were tested as columns. The fourth specimen was tested as a beam. Results of this study showed that FRP is an effective material for strengthening under eccentric loads.
