The first part of the paper presents a corrosive and mechanical wear process of sliding pair elements type pin-on-disc. This model is the author synthesis of partial solutions obtained by other research workers. The aim of the synthesis was to elaborate an effective instrument for forecasting the effects of the corrosive and mechanical wear The model assumes that the mechanisms determining the wear is low-cycle fatigue of deformed (in the contact zone) near-surface material layers and uniform corrosion of a newly exposed surface. The second part of the paper presents tests results of corrosive and mechanical wear of steel AISI 430 and AISI 321 in solution of 0.5M H(2)SO(4). The experiments were performed with the use of a technical stand with a model pair type pin-on-disc. The stand was designed and executed in Institute of Machines and Motor Vehicles of Poznan University of Technology. The paper presents partial tests results. The selected results enable to identify the dependence between forcing factors and corrosive and mechanical wear speed. Moreover the tests results were also used for the verification of the applied test method and computational model.
