This paper proposes the Dice similarity measure between expected intervals of trapezoidal fuzzy numbers (called the expected Dice similarity measure). It is an extension of the Dice similarity measure between vectors for trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. Based on the expected Dice similarity measure, a decision-making method is established to solve the multicriteria decision-making problem in which the criteria weights are completely unknown and the criteria values for an alternative are given with the form of trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. Through the weight model based on the standard deviation of expected values for trapezoidal fuzzy numbers and the weighted expected similarity measure between each alternative and the ideal alternative, the ranking order of all the alternatives can be determined and the best alternative can be easily identified as well. A practical example of this method is given to select the investment alternatives. The numerical example shows that the proposed method is reasonable and applicable.
