A mixed ionic-electronic conducting Cu2V2O7 - 20 wt% CuV2O6 molten oxide membrane (MOM) material has been studied with respect to its transport properties. The conductivity, oxygen ion transport number, oxygen flux and selectivity were measured at 650-690 degrees C. In the range of investigated thicknesses 1.2-3.4 mm, the MOM material operates under mixed control of the surface exchange and diffusion kinetics at 650-670 degrees C. The oxygen permeability and selectivity, surface exchange coefficient, and characteristic thickness have been determined as, 1.0 . 10(-9) mol cm(-1)s(-1), 2.0 . 10(3), 3.3 . 10(-6) cm s(-1) and 6.2 . 10(-2) cm, respectively. The MOM material shows promise for use in oxygen separation technology. (C) 2018 The Electrochemical Society.
