A novel Citrus sinensis peel ash coated magnetic nanoparticles as an easily recoverable solid catalyst for biodiesel production

Bishwajit Changmai et al.

Summary: A magnetic nano-sized solid catalyst, derived from bio-waste Citrus sinensis peel ash (CSPA)@Fe3O4, was developed for efficient synthesis of biodiesel from waste cooking oil (WCO) through transesterification. The core-shell structure of the catalyst enhanced surface properties and stability, leading to a high biodiesel yield of 98%. This catalyst showed great potential as a solid base catalyst due to its high stability and recyclability.

Chemolytic depolymerisation of PET: a review

Elaine Barnard et al.

Summary: Developing new methods for plastic recycling is crucial for reducing CO2 emissions and improving resource efficiency. Chemical recycling, which involves depolymerization to reclaim original components, is gaining attention as a viable route. Lowering the energy barrier for depolymerization through catalysts under mild conditions is a key focus of research in this field.

Low-energy catalytic methanolysis of poly(ethyleneterephthalate)

Duong Dinh Pham et al.

Summary: In this study, a low-energy catalytic route for methanolysis to convert PET resin to DMT was developed, achieving high DMT selectivity at ambient temperature by controlling the moisture level. The PET depolymerization apparently proceeded through two series of reaction steps, and the degradation of PET had a relatively low activation energy of 66.5 kJ mol(-1), which was accountable for catalytic methanolysis of PET at ambient conditions.
