Comparing Web-Based and In-Person Educational Workshops for Canadian Occupational Therapists and Understanding Their Learning Experiences: Mixed Methods Study

Sungha Kim et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the effectiveness and experiences of Canadian OTs in web-based and in-person DLW workshops. Barriers and facilitators for shared decision making in older patients with multiple chronic conditions: a systematic review

Ruth E. Pel-Littel et al.

Summary: Elderly patients with multiple chronic conditions participate less in shared decision making due to poor health and impairments, with healthcare professionals' interpersonal skills and organizational barriers also hindering the process. However, sharing personal values, decision support from informal caregivers, and care coordination can facilitate shared decision making.

The effect of a scalable online training module for shared decision making based on flawed video examples-a randomized controlled trial

Friedemann Geiger et al.

Summary: Shared Decision Making (SDM) is considered the gold standard of medical decision-making, and a new online training method based on flawed/flawless video examples and additional educational concepts has been proven effective in increasing SDM-related knowledge and judging ability. Feedback regarding the intervention was positive, indicating the success of the training approach.

Web-Based Delivery of the Caregiving Essentials Course for Informal Caregivers of Older Adults in Ontario: Mixed Methods Evaluation Study

Shelley Rottenberg et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the acceptability of a web-based delivery of a course for informal caregivers of older adults. The web-based delivery increased accessibility and allowed participants to work independently through the modules. Discussion boards were identified as a major strength, providing an opportunity for social interaction and a sense of community. Participants faced barriers such as age-related factors, navigation issues, and concerns about privacy. Suggestions included more engaging web-based communication methods and reorganizing module content to streamline information. Overall, the web-based delivery enhanced the course experience by facilitating interaction and accessibility.
