Numerical study of wall-impinging ignition at different wall distances for cold start of heavy-duty diesel engine

Yaqing Bo et al.

Summary: This study systematically analyzes the effects of the distance between the cold wall and spray nozzle on the spray and ignition characteristics of diesel engines. The results showed that the cold wall has little influence on ignition when the wall distance is larger, but delays chemical reactions and causes misfires when the wall distance is smaller. Varying wall distance also changes the timing of local fuel cooling, resulting in different effects.

Experimental and modeling analysis of multiple-injection strategies with B20 operation in a CRDI engine

Nivin Chacko et al.

Summary: The study investigates the operation of B20 in automotive engines through engine experiments and combustion emission modeling, concluding that multiple injections can reduce NO and soot emissions, with significantly lower soot emissions for B20 compared to diesel.

Effects of injection timing and rail pressure on particulate size-number distribution of a common rail DI engine fueled with fischer-tropsch diesel synthesized from coal

Limin Geng et al.

Summary: Advancing injection timing or increasing rail pressure leads to higher NOx emissions and lower soot emissions; under low loads, the number concentration of ultrafine particles first decreases and then increases, while it consistently decreases under medium and high loads; coal-based F-T diesel has lower number concentration and smaller geometric mean diameter of ultrafine particles.
