Vegetation Composition of the Halophytic Grass Aeluropus lagopoides Communities within Coastal and Inland Sabkhas of Saudi Arabia

Basharat A. Dar et al.

Summary: This study examined the vegetation composition and distribution of the A. lagopoides community in different regions of Saudi Arabia. It was found that A. lagopoides dominated in all locations and exhibited adaptability to a wide range of soil conditions. Other highly salt-tolerant species were also identified. The canonical correspondence and soil analysis showed that soil salinity and moisture were the main factors affecting community structure and diversity.

Spatial patterns and floristic composition of plant communities in uninhabited islets: the case of Kaboudia (Chebba, Eastern Tunisia)

Lotfi Mabrouk et al.

Summary: The study revealed that the three Kaboudia islets in eastern Tunisia have high botanical diversity, with mainly halophytic, psammophilous or nitrophilous plants. Three plant associations were identified based on the results of the survey, each located in different geographical areas. The diversity and distribution of plant communities in these islets are influenced by soil composition, salinity, water content, pH, the action of the sea and seabirds.

Salt tolerance of selected halophytes at the two initial growth stages for future management options

Fedae A. Alhaddad et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the salt tolerance of native halophytes in Qatar during germination and seedling stages. The results showed that several plant species had high germination rates even under high salt concentrations, and that salt levels did not significantly impact seedling growth.
