Electronically Integrated Mesoporous Ag-TiO2 Nanocomposite Thin films for Efficient Solar Hydrogen Production in Direct Sunlight

Sunesh S. Mani et al.

Summary: The integration of Ag with TiO2 significantly enhances the production of H2 as a photocatalyst, showcasing a 2.3-30 times increase in H2 yield compared to TiO2 without Ag. The high photocatalytic efficiency is attributed to the surface plasmon resonance effect of Ag, electronic integration of Ag with TiO2, and the presence of Ag-TiO2 Schottky junctions, which minimize electron-hole recombination. Additionally, the mesoporous network and high surface area offer easy accessibility of reactants to active sites.
