The reaction of Cp2TiCl2 with thionucleobases affords [Cp2Ti(L)]Cl-2 complexes, where L = 2-thiouracil, 6-thiopurine, 6-thioguanine, 2-thiocytosine, 6-thiopurineribose or 6-thioguanineribose. The ionic character of the chlorides has been determined by conductivity measurements and the coordination patterns of the thionucleobases have been determined by IR and proton NMR spectroscopies. The kinetics of ligand hydrolysis have been pursued to assess the stability of Ttl and Ti-Cp bonds in DMSO and DMSO-water solutions. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
