Various points of the experimental implementation of Fourier-transform spectral interferometry are described. It is shown that deviations fi sm the simple theoretical principle of this technique are induced by the use of a spectrometer followed by a pixellated detector. Potential sources of error are studied and techniques of corrections are demonstrated. Various applications of this technique to the study of spectrometers ale discussed.
