This article describes the transition from acute trauma resuscitative care to ICU care. During this transition, the tertiary survey identifies and catalogs all injuries. The timing and efficacy of this survey are affected by the need for ongoing resuscitation and clinical factors that may interfere with performance of the survey. These factors are described, and a framework for performance of the survey is provided.
