A novel activating agents of 'disarmed' thioglycosides, combination of trityl tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)borate, iodine and 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-p-benzoquinone (DDQ)

A combined use of trityl tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl) borate [TrB(C6F5)(4)], iodine (I-2) and 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-p-benzoquinone (DDQ) effectively activates disarmed thioglycosides to afford the corresponding disaccharides in high yields on treatment with several glycosyl accepters.
