Fatty liver and ketosis are metabolic disorders affecting high-producing dairy cows in early lactation. Estimates on the incidence of ketosis in dairy cows range from 4% to 5% clinically to 15% to 20% subclinically. Fatty Liver is a hidden disorder occurring in the crossroad of metabolism. Fatty liver precedes ketosis and is accompanied by other physiologic disturbances. Glucagon is examined as a potential agent for the treatment and prevention of fatty Liver and ketosis in dairy cows.
