Prevalence of the Brugada syndrome in an apparently healthy population

Of >1,000 asymptomatic apparently healthy subjects, only 1 patient exhibited typical coved ST-segment elevation of the Brugada syndrome and had an inducible polymorphic ventricular tachycardia. Sixty other subjects had saddleback ST-segment elevation but had no syncopes or sudden cardiac death during follow-up (49 +/- 30 months).
