The momentum dependence of the resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS) spectrum in high-T-c cuprates is examined. Cu L-edge RIXS spectrum is calculated by using the exact diagonalization technique on small clusters in the two-dimensional Hubbard model with Cu 2p-core band. We find that the RIXS spectrum related to charge-transfer excitations has the characteristic momentum dependence. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
