First isolations and structures of the cis-bis(phosphoranido) palladium(II) and platinum(II) complexes

The reaction of a phosphoranide generated from a P-H spirophosphorane bearing two 8-oxy-1-naphthyl groups with (dmpe)MCl2 (M; Pd, Pt) [dmpe; bis(dimethylphosphino)ethane] gives the first cis-bis(phosphoranido) palladium(II) and platinum(II) complexes. The crystal structures of the racemic isomers of the complexes are determined by the X-ray structural analyses.
