Strongly adherent and smooth polypyrrole coatings were formed at constant current density on aluminium sheet from aqueous solutions of pyrrole and oxalic acid. A new method (cementation) of formation of modified polypyrrole containing dispersed three-dimensional array of copper is presented. These films were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX). The electrocatalytic effect toward proton reduction was observed on the modified electrode. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
